This weekend Jim and I went to Rio Churrascarria on Milwaukee. Tres yummy. It's very similar to Sal y Carvao's way of doing things, except they offer an appetizer course in between your salad bar and the carnivorous binge course. The appetizer course consisted of small pieces of fried codfish, shrimp (ok, this was large), filet mignon and beef stroganoff and let me tell you...it was yummy. The beef in the stroganoff was absolutely tender & fat-free. The sauce was tasty without being overwhelming. Part of my hyper-pickiness about food (especially meats) is whether or not the cuts are lean. I will get queasy if I bite into fat or gristle. The food was delicious and if one has an issue with the $42.50/person charge at Sal y Carvao, Rio is only $32.50/person. The service was beyond friendly and on top of things without hovering. Their salad bar, while not having as many items as SyC, has many dishes of multiple-item salads. The meats are very similar to SyC (for example, the one gaucho to carry 2 skewers had pork sausages & chicken legs), though I'm not sure they had *everything* SyC has. The restaurant is large and well spread out with different rooms-we never felt crowded in to the other patrons in our area. It was very yummy & we plan on returning soon-especially since it's so much closer than the others.
