Black Hound New York
170 2nd Ave
Fancy Shmancy pastries and cakes and cookies and
candies. REALLY pretty cakes.
Il Bastardo
191 7th Ave
Fancy Italian Restaurant. Best. Bread. Ever. Period.
The End.
Cafe Monde
Broadway between 112th St/113th St.
Sorry, don't know the exact address. It's literally
down the street from Columbia. French cafe in a
GORGEOUS neighborhood. Not a giant selection, but
everything is good, especially the Soupe a l'Oignon
Gratinee. And they have a good wine list.
Max Brenner's: Chocolate By the Bald Man
141 2nd Ave (East Village...smaller)
841 Broadway (in Union Sq...generally more crowded)
One of mine and Kira's top five. A chocolate
restaurant. Yeah. A Chocolate. Restaurant. They can
make pretty much anything. With Chocolate. AMAZING
breakfasts. Obviously, delicious and creative hot
chocolate-type drinks. And good non-chocolate options,
too.
Veselka
144 2nd Ave
Ukranian Diner. Super cute. Quite reasonably priced.
Good Ukie food. Borscht and the like. Sweet potato
fries. Don't ask questions. Just eat them.
Cafe 28
245 5th Ave
I eat lunch here every day that I have studio. Wicked
expensive, but they have EVERYTHING. Hot sandwiches,
cold sandwiches, wraps, burgers, paninis, pitas, pick
your own salad toss, soup, and much much more. And
it's delicious. And run by this little Japanese woman
and her daughter, and her daughter adds in her head
and makes change faster than humanly possible. It's
cool. Trust me.
Waldy's
800 6th Ave (Avenue of the Americas)
Best pizza in New York. Period. Expensive, too. Thin
crust and wood burning ovened. They also have baked
penne that's really good.
New Amici
88 3rd Ave
Pizza joint. Okay, in reality, you probably shouldn't
put this place in, because I've heard some horror
stories, BUT, speaking as a college student,
absolutely the best, cheapest, most delicious hangover
food ever. It was across the street from my apartment,
and we would always stop in at like 4am on the way
home from barhopping. Also good for a quick bite while
cramming for exams. BBQ Chicken Pizza is the best.
White Pizza is second best.
Cafetasia
38 E 8th St
Right outside NYU main campus. Fancy Thai. Kind of a
hipster place. Really really good. This is where I had
my first of many Strawberry Mohitos.
Pita Grill
(chain)
Awesome awesome Greek/Mediterranean, and they have a
wide delivery range. Again, sweet potato fries. SO
GOOD.
Maxie's Delicatessen
723 7th Ave
In the Times Square neighborhood, so, monstrously
expensive, and superhuman portions. Like, $25 for a
chicken caesar salad with a solid pound of chicken.
That said, there are also 45873478563 differnet kinds
of cheesecake, and SWEET POTATO FRIES! A must to
complete the Midtown experience. And! Next door to a
gentleman's club!
Zen Palate
34 Union Sq. East
Vegetarian Asian cuisine. Very fancy. Very delicious.
Very pretty presentation. AMAZING tofu, every time.
One of my top three. Also serve sweet potato fries,
but they've got more of a tempura vibe.
